On the third Saturday of every month, the TORCH Trust for the Blind has been meeting at Whaddon Road at 3pm for many years. These meetings have included prayer, singing of hymns and songs, and a short talk from a visiting speaker. Every meeting concluded with a well-stocked sit-down afternoon tea.

Please note that the Torch meeting has now closed and the final meeting was held on Saturday 18th July 2015.

From the TORCH website:

TORCH TRUST, based in the UK but operating internationally, serves blind and partially sighted people:

  • producing Christian literature in formats they can read;
  • promoting Christian fellowship with and among them;
  • encouraging churches to fully include them and enabling their participation;
  • supporting them in any area of Christian spirituality

The aim of TORCH TRUST is to overcome sight loss as a barrier to finding personal faith in Christ and living a fulfilled Christian life.
